The world's first successful case! He was blind for many years, but regained his light in Wuhan

Professor Xiao Xuan’s team from Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University completed the world’s first clinical application of high‑resolution semi‑invasive retinal brain‑computer interface. They performed a non‑trans‑ocular chip implantation on Mr. Qiu, who had been blind for four years. Post‑operatively, the patient could recognize written characters and grasp objects. This minimally‑invasive and reversible technology is expected to restore vision for seven categories of patients with advanced blinding eye diseases whose optic nerves remain intact.
