Wuhan's optoelectronics industry has surged ahead this year, leading the nation in growth and entering a booming phase. This success is underpinned by Wuhan's comprehensive strategy focusing on storage, optoelectronic signal conversion, and high-speed transmission capabilities.
Focusing on these three key areas has created a concentrated industrial chain effect. For storage capabilities, Yangtze Memory has achieved stable mass production of 232-layer 3D NAND, rivaling top international companies. In optoelectronic signal conversion capabilities, companies like Accelink and HGTECH lead globally in high-speed optical interconnect technology. In high-speed transmission capabilities, YOFC has maintained its position as the world's top seller of optical fiber preforms for ten consecutive years. These industrial successes have attracted over 600,000 professionals to the city's optoelectronics industry.
Wuhan continues to roll out supportive policies, backed by its robust industrial chain, with plans to recruit and train 300 new PhD graduates in areas such as AI chips and smart sensors over the next three years. Additionally, Optics Valley of China (OVC) has established four parent funds, three of which focus on optoelectronic information, integrated circuits, and future industries.
With companies pushing boundaries and strong policy support, the industry's growth momentum is impressive. In the first quarter of this year, Wuhan's optoelectronic information industry grew by 25 percent, and OVC's GDP rose by 13.2 percent year-on-year, marking the best performance in five years.
