Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) comprehensive bonded zone has launched an innovative service that streamlines the transition of goods from non-bonded to bonded status in just seconds, without requiring physical transportation through the bonded zone's checkpoints.
A batch of Dongfeng Vigo new energy vehicles recently utilized this new model to transition their status and exit the zone for export to French Polynesia.
To ensure a smooth implementation, authorities engaged with enterprises to explain the new business processes, addressing concerns and coordinating with bonded zone management and customs officials for the first trial transaction.
WEDZ has been dedicated to accelerating vehicle exports by developing a comprehensive one-stop service system covering inspection, certification, customs clearance, and logistics.
The zone has introduced five innovative systems, such as "One Ticket for Multiple Vehicles" and "Scan Code Clearance", and has explored the "Split Delivery and Consolidated Reporting" regulatory model, saving companies approximately 5,000 yuan ($735) per vehicle in logistics costs.
The bonded zone facilitated the export of 14,126 Dongfeng vehicles from January to May, valued at $209 million, a 95.6 percent increase compared to the previous year.
"This regulatory model will further streamline vehicle export customs clearance," said a WEDZ representative. The zone plans to continue deepening institutional innovation, expanding international logistics networks, and exploring new trade formats and models to support the internationalization of the automotive industry.
