On June 28, the 2026 National Dragon Boat Joint Event for the Dragon Boat Festival & Wuhan Dragon Boat Invitational Tournament kicked off beside Tangxun Lake at Wuhan's Jiangxia Central Park. Twenty-eight teams took part in the competition, representing city clusters in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, the Wuhan Metropolitan Area, universities based in Wuhan and districts across Wuhan.
Running concurrently with the tournament was a Dragon Boat Festival Carnival Garden Fair, where visitors lingered to experience intangible cultural heritage handicrafts, local agricultural produce, sporting goods and popular street food stalls.
Beyond this dragon boat tournament, Wuhan will host a series of distinctive aquatic events this summer, including the 51st Wuhan Rivercrossing Festival and the 2026 China East Lake International Stand-Up Paddleboarding Open. These events will fuel a citywide wave of public participation in aquatic sports.
