The 21st Optics Valley of China International Optoelectronic Exposition hosted the 2026 China Top 10 Optical Industry Technology Innovation Conference and Awards Ceremony from May 18 to 19. The event celebrated 65 groundbreaking achievements, with awards spanning optics and lasers, alongside innovation, application, and breakthrough categories.

The award-winning fiber laser

Remarkably, 12 technologies developed in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (also known as Optics Valley of China, or OVC) were selected among the "2025 China Top 10 Optical Industry Technologies", setting a new record for the zone. 

These innovations include Everfoton's hollow-core fiber that achieves 2.45km all-fiber efficient transmission with 2kW laser power, Huagong Laser's AI-based predictive maintenance system for laser intelligent equipment, and the National Optoelectronics Innovation Center's 170GHz Ultra-High Bandwidth Electro-Optic Intensity Modulator. 

These advancements span fundamental materials, core components, and system equipment, covering the entire optical industry chain, with several achieving global leadership in performance.

OVC stands as the world's largest production base for optical fiber and cable, as well as China's largest R&D and production hub for optical and laser components. Home to over 16,000 optoelectronic information enterprises, OVC has seen companies like YOFC rise rapidly, reinforcing its status as a powerhouse in the optical industry.
