On May 8, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning posted a video on overseas social media platform showcasing the unattended luggage in a metro station in Wuhan, which drew likes and comments from many international netizens.

"In central China's Wuhan, unattended luggage lined the walls of a metro station, left behind by tourists eager to explore the city. Safe and worry-free!" Mao wrote in her post.

During the May Day holiday, Wuhan received a large number of out-of-town visitors. From May 3 to 5, around 200 pieces of luggage each day were stored at the Liyuan Square Station — a metro station located near the city's famous East Lake scenic area. Many tourists left their bulky bags at the station to travel light. Neatly lined up along the wall of a passageway, the luggage neither obstructed passenger flow nor led to any incidents of loss or theft.
