The new trains for Wuhan Metro Line 12 made their debut on April 28, 2026. The trains feature fully automated driving technology, capable of automatic waking, operation, turning back, return to depot, sleeping, and remote control.

Wuhan Metro Line 12 is the longest metro loop line in Asia, stretching 59.9 kilometers and having 37 stations. It connects seven central urban districts of Wuhan - Qiaokou, Jianghan, Jiangan, Qingshan, Hongshan, Wuchang, and Hanyang - and links two major railway hubs - Wuchang Railway Station and Hankou Railway Station. The line also provides interchanges with 18 existing and planned metro lines in the city.

The metro line is scheduled to open in two phases. The first-phase project, spanning approximately 35.32 kilometers from Gangdu Huayuan Station to Moshuihu Park Station, is ready operational. The second-phase project, from Shilipu Station to Science Park Station, is expected to open by October this year.
