The Wuhan-Yichang section of Shanghai-Chongqing-Chengdu high-speed railway officially opened to traffic on Dec. 26, 2025, cutting the travel time between Wuhan and Yichang from over two hours to 69 minutes.
It also marks the successful establishment of a "one-hour high-speed railway loop" connecting Wuhan, Xiangyang, and Yichang cities in Hubei.
The railway line starts from Hankou Railway Station and ends at Yichang North Railway Station, stretching 314 kilometers with a design speed of 350 kilometers per hour. It commenced construction in September 2021 and features a total of eight stations.
To meet diverse passenger needs, railway authorities will implement a flexible fare mechanism with floating discounts. The second-class seat ticket for the railway line ranges from 91 yuan to 175 yuan.
