Overseas Chinese media delegation impressed by WEDZ's automotive excellence

Representatives from overseas Chinese media visited Wuhan Economic & Technological Development Zone (WEDZ) on Sept 25 to witness the remarkable capabilities of what is being dubbed "China Auto Valley".

The delegation observed a cutting-edge production line at Voyah Motors' assembly workshop, where industrial robots and technicians collaborate to produce a vehicle every 118 seconds.

Voyah Motors, a high-end smart new energy brand under Dongfeng Motor, has entered key European markets with its diverse product lineup that includes SUVs, MPVs, and sedans.

The delegation also experienced the exceptional performance of the M-Hero 917's range-extended version, which showcased outstanding stability during a cross-axis test, where two of its wheels were suspended in the air.

Xie Fuhui, deputy editor-in-chief of Sweden's Nordic Chinese Newspaper, said, "The experience was thrilling, yet the vehicle remained as steady as a rock, demonstrating the robust capabilities of Chinese car manufacturers."

The rapid rise of Voyah and M-Hero exemplifies the dynamic growth of "China's Auto Valley." This zone is home to 10 vehicle manufacturers, 14 vehicle factories, and over 1,400 parts suppliers, achieving an annual production and sales volume of nearly one million vehicles.

WEDZ has focused on the new energy and intelligent connected vehicle industry chain, attracting high-end projects and forming a comprehensive industrial system from key components to complete vehicles. In the first half of 2025 alone, the zone launched 10 new car models, with new energy vehicle production increasing by 58 percent year-over-year.

The zone is also developing specialized facilities, such as the Wuhan Intelligent Vehicle Software Park, the Hydrogen Energy Technology Industrial Park, and the New Materials Industrial Park, to address challenges including chip shortages and material bottlenecks.
