Photo taken on Sept. 27, 2025 shows the upgraded Dongfanghong No. 2, a key oceanographic research vessel, successfully relaunched in Wuhan, Hubei Province. Managed by the Ocean University of China, the vessel has sailed 600,000 nautical miles since 1996, covering China's coastal waters as well as the Pacific and Indian Oceans. After 27 years of service, the vessel will continue supporting marine research and education after being remodeled by Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group Co.,Ltd., an affiliate of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation based in Wuhan.
