Robots welcome students back to school in OVC

On Sept 1, over 170,000 students from kindergartens, primary, and secondary schools in Wuhan East Lake High-tech Development Zone (Optics Valley of China, or OVC) returned to school, greeted by a unique activity titled "Igniting the Future - Hi, My Robot Classmate".

The activity spanned all educational levels in OVC. Kindergartens introduced children to the wonders of technology, primary schools focused on exploring the "Silicon-based World", middle schools emphasized practical coding applications, and high schools encouraged students to innovate by "Gazing into the Future".

At 8:30 am, humanoid robot "Guangzi" welcomed students at the entrance of Optics Valley No 15 Primary School with a captivating tai chi performance and engaging dialogues. According to Huo Fenfang, director of the school's information resource center, this activity aims to deepen students' understanding of technology and highlight the presence of AI in their daily lives.

At Optics Valley No 9 Primary School, Doctor Huang Peng from Wuhan Institute of Technology delivered a lecture on "Humanoid Robots and Dance Art", offering students insights into cutting-edge technological trends.

In the Optics Valley Technological Innovation Experimental Middle School, the humanoid robot "Chuangchuang" danced with students, impressing them with its high-tech moves.

The activity featured 20 humanoid robots across 37 schools, in collaboration with the Hubei Humanoid Robot Innovation Center, Optics Valley Dongzhi Embodied Intelligent Technology Co, Wuhan GLRoad Intelligent Technology Co, and PKU-Wuhan Institute for Artificial Intelligence, bringing advanced technology to the classroom and allowing students to get an up-close look at the tech industry.
