Wuhan's GDP exceeds 1 trln yuan in H1

The gross domestic product (GDP) of Wuhan, capital city of Hubei Province, totaled more than 1.059 trillion yuan in the first half (H1) of 2025, with a year-on-year increase of 5.5 percent, local statistics authorities said on July 25.

During the six months, Wuhan's fixed-asset investment rose 2 percent from the same period last year.

The added value of the industries above designated size went up 5.1 percent year on year. 

The consumer market of the city posted a stable performance over the same period, with the total retail sales of consumer goods reaching 427.997 billion yuan, surging by 7.3 percent year on year.

In the January-June period, Wuhan received 205 million tourists and generated 240.3 billion yuan in tourism revenue, accounting for 47 percent and 53 percent of the provincial total.

During the period, Wuhan's imports and exports with its top three trading partners - the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the European Union and the United States - surged by 64.7 percent, 47.5 percent and 36.2 percent, respectively. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Zhang Yawei)
