On March 23, 2025, the 2025 Wuhan Marathon kicked off in the River City. Runners from 67 countries and regions around the world gathered in Wuhan, with a total of 40,000 participants. Together, they experienced the unique charm of the racecourse featuring "one city, two rivers, three towns, four bridges, and five lakes." As the Wuhan Marathon was upgraded to a World Athletics Gold Label event for the first time and became one of the four major marathons in China, the number of participants in this edition of the event reached a record high. To ensure the safety, success, and brilliance of the event, the Wuhan police force deployed sufficient security personnel. Among the event's support teams, the "Wuhan Foreign Volunteer Service Team," jointly established by the Wuhan Immigration Service Center and the International Education Colleges of universities in Wuhan, became a beautiful "safety highlight" in the event's support.

More than 20 foreign student volunteers of the "Wuhan Foreign Volunteer Service Team" from universities such as Central China Normal University and Hubei University of Technology provided support services such as translation and running assistance at the "foreign-related service stations" at the starting point of the race, the finish line of the health run, the finish line of the half-marathon, and the finish line of the full marathon. At the finish line of the full marathon, a Kenyan runner suddenly felt unwell. The volunteers proactively went up to support him, helped the medical team with translation during the diagnosis, and ensured that timely assistance was provided.

The University of Turin team from Italy participated in the 2025 Wuhan Marathon University Challenge for the first time. Three volunteers from the "Wuhan Foreign Volunteer Service Team" actively assisted the team with pre-race registration, course guidance, and transportation ticket booking services. Isabella, a runner from the University of Turin, exclaimed, "Wuhan is a charming and enthusiastic city. The thorough and efficient preparations for the race make me want to sign up for next year's event!" According to statistics, the volunteers from the "Wuhan Foreign Volunteer Service Team" provided more than 400 consultations for foreign runners, including course guidance and medal engraving services.

The "Wuhan Foreign Volunteer Service Team" is a public force established by the Wuhan Immigration Service Center at the beginning of this year to promote integration between China and foreign countries and to boost the city's international development. By carrying out foreign-related volunteer activities such as community services and cultural publicity, the team actively promotes foreign-related services and cross-cultural exchanges in Wuhan. As a staff member of the Wuhan Marathon Organizing Committee said, "The Foreign Service Team has taken the refined services of the Wuhan Marathon to a new level!"
