Wuhan's FDI inflow exceeds 2 bln USD in 2023

Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Wuhan stood at 2.086 billion U.S. dollars in 2023, recording a growth rate of 14 percentage points higher than the national average and ranking first in central China.

During the period, 378 new foreign-invested firms were set up in the city, up 32.63 percent year on year, showing foreign businesses' confidence in long-term investment in Wuhan.

In 2023, Wuhan's actual use of European investment skyrocketed by 738.6 percent year on year. There were 32 new European-invested enterprises in the city, surging by 88.2 percent year on year.

Foreign investment in industry sector registered a year-on-year growth of 28.0 percent during the period.

High-tech industries saw a rapid FDI increase over the period. Specifically, actual use of foreign investment in high-tech manufacturing jumped by 109.8 percent, while that in the software and information technology service ascended by 41.2 percent year on year to 511 million U.S. dollars.
