Wuhan ranks fifth on national list

On Oct. 11, the "2023 China Night Economy Forum" was held in Sany,Hainan Province. At the forum, Qingdao, Fuzhou, Nanjing, Shenzhen, Wuhan, Luoyang, Sanya, Changsha, Chengdu and Yangzhou were listed on the "2023 Top Ten Emerging Cities of China's Night Economy." Among the 363 cities monitored by the China Tourism Academy's night tourism research group, the top 10 cities in terms of the number of night tourists accounted for 21.4 percent of the country's total in the first eight months of this year. The amount of tourists' consumption they spent at night has exceeded that of 2019. More than 70 percent of tourists spent more money at night than in 2019.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday, more than 30,000 people visited the Yellow Crane Tower at night and 70 percent of them were from other cities; Zhiyin cruise received nearly 15,000 tourists who enjoyed the performances onboard, an increase of 60 percent compared with the same period in 2019. In Wuhan Haichang Polar Ocean Park, more than 30 shows every day gave tourists a rich night tour experience.

Comercial areas such as Jianghan Road Pedestrian Street, Hubu Alley, Jiqing Street, Shuita Street were busy late at night. Hot-and-dry noodles, Shaomai in fried cake, beef patty and other delicacies were particularly attractive to tourists from other cities. In Wansongyuan Food Street, many shops extended business hours, and many were still busy in the wee hours.
