Wuhan is the largest optical fiber and cable research and development base in the world. The Global Optical Fiber and Cable Conference 2023 was held in Wuhan on May 17; it was hosted by the Asian-Pacific Optical Fiber and Cable Industry Association (APC) and FiberHome Telecommunication Technologies Co., Ltd. 

The Commercial Counselor of the United Mexican States Embassy in China, the Assistant Secretary of Department of Transportation and Communications of the Philippines, the General Manager Network Planning & Technology at Oman Broadband, and academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering were among the more than 600 guests who attended the conference.

May 17 marks the 54th World Telecommunication Day. The purpose of the conference is to foster collaboration and exchanges among worldwide organizations involved in the optical fiber and cable sector, as well as to develop and sustain a robust global optical communications industrial ecology that will benefit all of humanity.
