Bi Sheng Memorial Park opens in Yingshan County, Hubei

China’s first park commemorating Bi Sheng was officially opened to the public on April 20, in Yingshan County, Hubei Province.

Bi Sheng (about 970 - 1051), a native of Yingshan County, is the inventor of movable-type printing. As one of the four great inventions of ancient China, movable-type printing is an invention which paves the road for China's cultural and economic development, and also contributes to the improvement of world civilization. Bi Sheng's tombstone was discovered in Yingshan County in 1990 and his tomb was listed into the eighth batch of key cultural relics under state protection.

The Bi Sheng Memorial Park covers an area of 60,000 square meters, with a memorial hall, a cultural relics protection institute, an experience hall for four great inventions, an experience hall for tea culture, a movable type maze, a research center and other supporting facilities. It is a park integrating cultural relics protection, exhibition, science popularization education, immersive experience, research travel and cultural transmission.
