Liu's daughter and son wearing new clothes she made for them
A vlog about a housewife from Wuhan making her daughter four New Year outfits with a 2-meter piece of unused cloth became a top search on Weibo recently.
Before becoming a housewife, mainly taking care of two children at home, the woman surnamed Liu had worked as a seamstress in a clothing company for 15 years. From July last year, in order to share her fun life of sewing and making clothes, Liu started to post vlogs of making cute children's wear from unused old clothes on Douyin.
Last December, Liu made the four New Year outfits for her daughter. Her vlogs enjoyed great popularity on the internet because of her exquisite craftsmanship. One of her videos hit more than 12 million views. After the Little New Year's Day (a preliminary day that falls one week before the real Chinese New Year's Day), Liu found a 1.5-meter piece of dark yellow polar fleece and a piece of artificial leather in similar color at home. With these materials, she made another three pieces of clothing for her daughter and a pair of overalls for her son.
After her videos became popular, inquiries for tailoring kept coming every day. Some people wanted to send their clothes to Liu and pay her to see these old clothes "transformed." Liu also received business messages from clothing companies.
According to Liu, she will consider starting her own business when she gains more experience. Maybe she will establish a brand for children's wear.
