Creating a better investment future

On Oct. 31, Changjiang Weekly published a special issue, focusing on Wuhan’s economic development, future planning, and strategic opportunities, and introduced Wuhan’s advantages in geography, science, technology, and its international business environment to the world.In addition, it concentrates on the economic and trade links between Wuhan and Europe.

The special issue shows the world, that Wuhan, as the capital of Hubei Province in Central China, is a modern international metropolis and an economic, industrial, and transportation hub for the region and the country, and is fast becoming one for the world.

On the cover of the special issue,there are images of the Yellow Crane Tower in Wuhan and the port ofDuisburg, oneof Wuhan’s sister cities. The letter “W” stands for Wuhan, and “E” stands for Europe, together forming the word “WE”. The title, “A shared future, indicates that both sideswork together to create a prosperous future.

The content of the special issue illustrates that Wuhan is at the forefront in Central China of reform and opening-up. In recent years, Wuhan has continued to widen the scope of opening up, as economic and trade cooperation between Wuhan and Europe has deepened.

By the end of 2021, there had been 541 European companieshad invested in Wuhan with a total investment value of USD 2.87 billion. The EU has become Wuhan’s largest trade partner with a total import and export trade value of USD 8.354 billion. Wuhan enjoys a broad prospect in further economic and trade cooperation with Europe.

The Sino-French Wuhan Eco-Demonstration City is a collaborative project for sustainable development witnessed by the leaders of both China and France. Construction on 12 core projects commenced there in March. They include a lakeside ecological conservation belt, a French-style animation-themed amusement park, sports facilities, and an international school.

Focusing on the leading industries in areas such as the digital economy, high-end services, and life & health, the demonstration city has attracted French projects such as AKWEL and Taliske, as well as the American-invested Sage Automotive Interiors.

TheSino-German Industrial Park has attracted more than 30 leading international companies such as Webasto, Siemens, Unipers, and BorgWarner to settle there, forming the four major industries of electronic information, auto parts, smart equipment, and the smart home.

As of 2021, 7578 foreign-funded companies have settled in Wuhan, including 309 Fortune Global 500 enterprises.

At present, Wuhan enjoys overlapping strategic opportunities: a superior transportation location, strong industrial strength, powerful innovation momentum, and a broad market forvariousapplications.
