Control cabin of the tower
The 114.95-meter-tall Wuhan control tower was put into operation in Tianhe Airport on Aug.8, 2016. It is the tallest of its kind in China and second only to that in New Bangkok Airport in the world, which is 132 meters tall.
The new control tower is 22 floors above the ground, resembling a phoenix coronet in shape. Controller on the tower could have a 360-degree panorama of Tianhe Airport.
Compared with former control tower, which stopped operation yesterday, the new one is technologically advanced among large-scale airports in China. According to plan, the second runway of the airport will be operational on Aug.18, 2016.
