Wuhan, a city known as the "thoroughfare leading to nine provinces", occupies a strategically important position in Central China. It is located at the junction of the golden waterway of the Yangtze River and the main trunk of Beijing-Kowloon Railway, and recognized as a transportation hub where passengers and cargo from all directions of China are exchanged. Wuhan has a sound transportation network composed of light rail, ferry, cross-river tunnel and bridge over the Yangtze River, and a subway under construction, interconnecting lifelines of the three towns of Wuhan.
