The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology officially replied to an application by the Department of Economy and Information Technology of Hubei Province on Aug. 29, announcing their support of Wuhan in creating a national blockchain development forerunner area.
The area is a pilot implementation area of the lockchain industry, allowing blockchain enterprises to explore new models, formats, and applications. Last December, the ministry approved Suzhou to create the country's first such area. This August, Wuhan, Zhengzhou and Kunming were approved by the ministry. The approved areas are said to enjoy relevant state support, such as that given for the creation of "China's software parks."
At present, there are 143 blockchain enterprises in Wuhan, including those in parks and incubators such as Jianghan District Blockchain Industrial Park, the East Lake High-tech Development Zone Optics Valley Blockchain Maker Space, and Qiaokou District Blockchain Industrial Park.
